20TH ANNUAL PIMBA CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD ON OCTOBER 24PIMBA is proud to congratulate EACH of the 14 area bands that participated in its 2015 Championships at Gateway HS on Saturday, October 24.
The bands displayed incredible perseverance in warming up and performing in a steady rain the entire day before an equally tenacious, extremely supportive audience. Bravo to ALL bands, staffs and directors along with their parents, families and band fans from throughout the region!
PIMBA thanks the Gateway Band Parents and director Robert Read for their organization, hospitality for the bands and judges, and tremendous efforts throughout a long, rainy day. Thankfully, temperatures remained in the low 60's throughout the day as compared to recent years.
PIMBA also thanks the IUP Marching Band and their director, Dr. David Martynuik for a remarkable guest performance once again this year.
In each class, participating bands received Championship Plaques with an additional awards plate presented to the bands receiving the highest score in Music, Visual and Effect.
The 1st place band in each class received Championship Medals.
New for 2015, the 1st place band in each class also received a 'Citation for Excellence in Marching Band' as presented by the National Band Association, recognizing students and directors throughout the United States whose bands have achieved excellence in performance through the art form of marching band.

Deer Lakes, Penn Trafford, Gateway, Norwin and Kiski HS bands all represented PIMBA well. Congratulations to PIMBA's Kiski Area HS Band for placing 1st. The opportunity to welcome back to western PA the director of bands at Allatoona HS in Georgia, Cecilia Clark, former director of bands at Deer Lakes HS, was an unexpected pleasure.
PIMBA congratulates our own Moon Area HS Band for their excellent performance at the Bands of America Regional in Dayton, Ohio, on October 3. Moon placed 16th out of an extremely strong field of 28 bands from 6 states. Finals was cancelled due to the inclement weather that continues to plague this fall's marching band rehearsals and performances.
PIMBA's own Deer Lakes and Norwin were among 26 bands from 7 states that performed as part of the Bands of America Regional at the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware on Saturday, October 17. Norwin finished 4th in Finals after placing 2nd in Prelms in Class AAA, earning both the Outstanding Music and Visual awards in class. Bravo to the students and staffs in both participating PIMBA bands!
